Brown County YMCA Hilly Half Marathon would not happen without you, our wonderful volunteers.
We have many opportunities if you would like to join us.
These include:
Friday Set Up Team | Time TBD
We need help setting up! Putting up banners, signs along the course, signage at HQ. Setting up shelter house and moving tables. Arranging tables and fire pits. Managing tent set up and table/chair drop off. Port-a-pot placement.
Friday Evening Packet Pick up @ YMCA, 11/17 | 3:45-7p
Friday, November 18th at the Brown County YMCA, 105 Willow St., 3-7pm, Will be checking in pre-registered participants; taking new registrations, selling merch and checking ID's and putting on wristbands
Parking Team | 6:30-9am
In charge of parking cars on race day in designated areas. Field and MTB parking lot
Day of Packet Pick up - Lower Shelter | 6:30a - 9:30a
6:30- 9:30am- Lower Shelter House. Will be responsible for checking in pre-registered participants and will need a crew to do Day of registrations as well. We will need 2 dedicated cashiers for late sign-ups.
Water/Aid Station Delivery | 6-7:3a
Trucks required. 6a-7:30a Race Day- deliver tables, chairs, signs to Water/Aid Stations
5K Water Stop | 830a-1p
Must be in place by 8:30am. Longest time frame, you will go until 1pm. Will direct ALL 5K runners & walkers to turn at designated spot. Keep water cups prepped as ALL go past. You will see EVERY participant. All 5k's - they will turn around; ALL 10K & Half runners & walkers will go past on way up and then back down. You will be on road which will be closed to all vehicle traffic. You will be asked to clean up your spot and bring ALL supplies back to race HQ at Lower Shelter.
10K Water stop | 8:30a-12p
Be in place by 8:30 am. Will direct ONLY 10K runners & walkers to turn at designated spot. Keep water cups prepped as ALL go past. You will see ALL 10K & Half runners & walkers go past on way out and back You will be on vista/gravel area near the service barn, just past the Hoosier Nest and wildflower field; the road will be open to all vehicle traffic. You will be asked to clean up your spot and bring ALL supplies back to race HQ at Lower Shelter.
3 Way Water | 8:30a - 12p
Be in place by 8:30 am. Will direct Half runners & walkers to turn into campground. Keep water and Gatorade cups prepped as ALL go past. You will see ONLY Half runners & walkers 3 times, as they go past on way to: 1) Taylor Ridge 2) to Hohen Point 3) back toward finish. You will be on road that will be closed to traffic. You will see Every Half Marathon participant. You will also be asked to clean up your spot and bring ALL supplies back to race HQ at Lower Shelter. Trash can be put in dumpster at the the Campground store.
Hohen Point Turn and Water | 9-11:30am
This is a VERY important turn around! Must be vocal on directing runners to TURN at your location! We will put caution tape across the road to give runners the visual! Several have run past this turn and were not too happy. You will also have water. You will see Every Half Marathon participant. You will be asked to clean up your spot and bring ALL supplies back to race HQ at Lower Shelter. Trash can be put in dumpster at the the Campground store.
Taylor Ridge Turnaround | 9-11:30am
You will be at campsite #_TBD . You will see Every Half Marathon participant. You will also be asked to clean up your spot, grab any signs within campground and bring ALL supplies back to race HQ at Lower Shelter. Trash can be put in dumpster at the the Campground store.
Food Tent | 9:30a-2p
You will be in charge of setting up Food Tent, keeping stocked with water and keep food line moving as participants finish and get their soup. Will need someone to take food tickets and sell to tickets to non-race participants.
Finish Line | 9a-1p
You get the FUN job of giving finisher medals to everyone who crosses the Finish Line! Must be willing to cheer folks on! Also will keep post-race snack table stocked! Water, bananas, granola bars & pretzels.
GEAR Check - Lower Shelter in Access Bus | 8a-1p
You will man the Access Bus and provide bags for participants to check their gear while participating in Hilly!
Clean up and Tear down crew | 1-3p
We would love to have fresh legs to help clean and pack up from the day!
Beer Mile Assistant to Upland 8:30a-1p
You will be assisting Upland staff with the pouring and monitoring those partaking their beer mile! You may need to acquire temporary server permit from the state. Must be 21!
ID Check and Wristband - Saturday | 7 -9:30am
Need 1 person checking ID's and 1 attach wristbands
Merch and Help Desk |8a-2p
Man the MERCH sales tent and help desk. Will be selling items, taking registrations for 2023. Must have Square App on phone and can handle cash sales
Fire Pit Attendant | 8a-2p
Manage and maintain fires around the post race party, Includes inside the shelter and the fire pits scattered around.
Lead Bicycle | 8:45a-12p
On Bicycle lead the half marathoners through the course. Will have to be familiar with the course prior to committing. Can either lead from start line or be at top of the hill by Aynes house waiting.
